Rezumat | ||||||
In the years 1514-35, the german reformer Martin Luther published several works in which he defends the Jews: Magnificat (1520), That Jesus Christ was Born a Jew (1523) etc., convinced that when they will hear the word of the Bible (viva vox Evangelii), they will convert to Christianity, following, then, to join the Christian Community (Gemeinde). After his failed endeavours, to persuade them to pass on Christianity, the old Luther started to write anti-judaic works, through which he urged the germans to remove all Jews from city affairs: The years of intoleranc (1536-46), period in which Luther writes more ”acid pamphlets” – Against the Sabbatarians (1538), On the Jews and Their Lies (1542), On the Holy Name and the Lineage of Christ (1543) and On the Last Words of David (1543). |
