Numerous findings of arrow-coins in the Greek settlements of the Lower Bug area, as well as their image on scales weights, caused statements about their being invented and manufactured in the settlement of Berezan. However, the findings of the hoards of arrow-coins in the Western Black Sea region are not taken into account. Although, one of them contained an arrowhead mold with lead plugs that must have served as a coin. This may indicate that the arrow-coins, in the role of money equivalent, were invented and produced in the Greek colonies of the Western Black Sea. The arrow-coins appeared in the lower area of the Bug as a result of extensive trade ties. |
