This article includes information about unpublished books of the Noul Neamt monastery library in Bessarabia. The monastery was founded in the second half of the nineteenth century by monks from the monastery Neamt, after the reforms of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, who reached this monastery interests. The monks fled Neamt monastery estates left the Prut River, where they set up a new Neamt monastery keep the old tradition. They brought with them many manuscripts and old books, creating a valuable and richest library in Bessarabia. The founders of the monastery and library are monks Theophan Cristea and Andronic Popovici. Fot monastery closed by the Soviet authorities in 1962, and books in the library stored in the National Archives of the Republic of Moldova, but some prints were sold, donated or sold by monks and now we have identified the funding of libraries, museum collections, monastic libraries. This information provides a modest contribution to the completion of the Noul Neamt monastery library. |
