The paper studies the theoretical and methodological approaches to the definition of „family policy”. The family is unique social institution that mediates between the individual, state and society, serving as an integrator of public relations between them, the translator of the fundamental values from generation to generation. It includes a strong potential impact on the processes of social development and reproduction of the labor force, the establishment of civil relations. The family has a consolidating role, opposes social strife and tension.The experience of international community shows that institutional problems of the family are effectively settled through specially organized system of state family policy. Its social significance is determined by the specific problems of the family, society's need for a more comprehensive and effective implementation of its social functions, optimization of other social institutions, especially state, in the interests of the family. Institutional nature of the subject of family policy is considered in the article. Author's definition of the definition of „state family policy” has been proposed.

Articolul este dedicat studierii abordărilor teoretice şi metodologice a definiţiei „politică de familie”. Familia este o instituţie socială, un mijlocitor între individ, stat şi societate, servind ca integrator de relaţii publice între ele, asamblare de valori fundamentale din generaţie în generaţie. Familia are un puternic impact asupra proceselor de evoluţie socială, reproducerea forţei de muncă, tendinţelor de a deveni parte în relaţiile civile. Familia are o valoare de consolidare, care se opune tensiunilor şi certurilor sociale. Experienţa mondială arată că problemele instituţionale sunt rezolvate eficient folosind un sistem special organizat de stat privind politica de familie. Valoarea familiei pentru societate este cauzată de anumite probleme specifice familiei, de necesităţile societăţii privind punerea în aplicare a caracteristicilor sale sociale, pentru a optimiza activitatea altor instituţii sociale, în special statul, în interesele familiei. Se examinează natura instituţională a obiectului „politică de familie”. Este propusă varianta autorului a definiţiei „politica de stat privind familia”.
