The participation of the Armenian people in the Crimea war is elucidated in the article. Taking into consideration the importance of the local population in the previous Russo-Turkish and Russo-Persian wars, the Russian command organized voluntary and home guard detachments that were serving up to the end of war. Many Armenian service-men distinguished themselves in the Russian army. It’s an interesting fact that there were Armenians who also distinguished themselves by bravery in the Moslem detachments that took part in the Crimea war on the side of the Russian army. Many Armenians were awarded Russian state and military rewards for participation in those battles in the ranks of the Russian army. The lieutenant– general of the Russian army, an Armenian by nationality Vassiley Babutov was appointed as the commander of the Alecsandropol detachment of the Caucasian acting corps. In 1855 the commander Abraham Bogdanovich Aslanbekov received the title of admiral. The Crimea war did not bring changes in the Transcaucasian borders. The participation of the Armenian militaries and home guard detachments in the Crimea war of 1853-1856 is one of the brightest pages of military history of the Armenian people. It contributed to the victories of Russia on the Caucasian front. The active participation of Armenians in this war was conditioned by the desire to gain the freedom and also by the great number of the Armenians who were committed high ranks in the Russian army.
