Literature is the essential element of educating the national consciousness. In this article I tried to present the inclusion of the work of the classics of Romanian literature in the literature textbook for the seventh grade in the MSSR. The political aspect is quite strongly felt in the creation of literature textbooks by the presence or absence of the writer. We notice that the editions from the end of the sixties reflect a process of moving away from Romanian literature by excluding a series of writers. The writers remaining are Alecsandri, Eminescu, Creangă.
