Rebus sic stantibus represents a theory according to which a substantial change of the circumstances that where involved in conclusidng a treaty may lead to the ending of the treaty or, at least, affect its juridical power. History knows multiple exmplamples in which this clause was invoked, but the aim of this paper is to analyze the most representative ones in order to elucidate the effect of changing the circumstances on the validity of an international treaty. |
