Rezumat

The article discusses the origins of the phenomenon of intellectuals it the university and their relationship with students in France. The communicational aspect ratio of professors and intellectuals as classes is reviewed. The author focused on the three historical episodes in his review: the Middle Ages, the Dreyfus affair and the May events in 1968. It is indicated on the special dualistic nature of the studentship – as pupils and disciples and potential intellectuals on the other hand. The phenomenon of academic resistance in its extreme form - student uprising is reviewed. It is shown by the example of the Situationist International how responsive to the student environment can be the avant-garde ideas of the contemporary intellectual elites. The special role of students in the evolution of the phenomenon of intellectuals is argued as a conclusion.
