In the article are treated problems of the genesis and functionality of the song with the star, which is a distinct genre, with accentuated religious elements, which are present in the entire custom. The song with the star appeared during the 17th-18th centuries, and many times replaced the text and the melody of the traditional carols. The birth of the song with the star was caused by several premises, especially by the fight between the church and the pagan carol tradition, but also by the calvinistic proselytism, which took place during that time in Transilvania.However, the functionality with augural meaning of the custom didn’t suffer major changes, being preserved till nowadays. |
