Afterlife or Hereafter in the philosophy and mythology of ancient Greece and Rome takes place in an area often referred to as the Underworld or Hades, although sometimes the location is described as a distant portion of the earth. In classical antiquity the image of the world where souls go after death was created by myth and poetry. It has evolved over time to reach known image of classic literary works. It was believed that souls were judged after death and those who received punishment were sent to Tartarus. As a place of punishment, it can be considered a hell. |
