Platan species naturalized in Republic of Moldova. Platan species in Republic of Moldova were introduced and studied the biological particularities of three species of plants from the Platanaceae Lind family: Platanus orientalis L., Platanus occidentalis L. and a hybrid species - Platanus acerifolia Willd. All these plant species, of different geographical provenience were excellent naturalized to the climateric conditions of Moldova, being resistant to the stress factors (drought, heat, frost, pollution etc). The platans are plants with a rapid growth (18-22m high) and with a well developed root system. Due to these very important qualities, platan species are recommended to be planted on degraded terrains in fighting with soil erosion and, also, for obtaining wood, which is a high quality one.
