Rezumat

The paper addresses current challenges to language instruction, considering the impact that Artificial Intelligence has on contemporary language learning paradigms. The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence and its increased sophistication and efficiency have triggered the necessity to adapt to new, innovative educational methods and techniques that should incorporate the new technologies in the technical language class. The study is built on a theoretical framework introducing the concept of ChatGPT and the controversies associated with its application in educational fields in general and language learning in particular. The practical part of the study is a survey conducted among English language educators in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. The study aims to gauge educators’ perspectives on utilizing Artificial Intelligence applications – ChatGPT in particular – in language learning.
