The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment considers that three rights of detained persons have a very big importance: the right of notification of his custody, the right to have access to a lawyer and the right to benefit of medical assistance. These rights represent an assurance against torture and ill treatment applied to detained persons. |
