The civil engineering sector is strategic to address the challenges of today's society (climatic emergency, reduction of energy consumption, sustainable use of resources). Indeed, transport infrastructure, water supply and sanitation or waste management, among others, have a significant impact on the environment. That is why, in order to achieve a more sustainable Europe, infrastructure networks and civil engineering play a significant role. In this work, mathematical modelling has been used in real processes, addressing different decisionmaking techniques and enabling process efficiency. Using problems and projects-based learning methodologies, genetic algorithms (GA) have been applied in the calculation of optimal routes, contributing to fuel savings and generating less environmental pollution. |
