The extent of temporary labor migration processes in recent decades presents a topic of constant interest for scientific research in Moldova. It is particularly impor- tant the complex research of possible consequences for social security of workers mi- grants and on the stability of Moldova’s social security systems – the less studied topic. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the key factors of the migration process: chrono- logical stages of external migration from Moldova and the national and international legal regulations related to social security for labor migrants; social and demographic characteristics of migration vectors; duration of stay abroad and intention of migrants to return to the country or not; the basic differences of social security measures cov- ered by the various regional conventions, at the CIS and global level etc.
