Rezumat

On May 13, 1952, the doctoral thesis was defended on the topic ”Roma in the European part of the USSR and their transition from nomadism to sedentary life”. It was the first doctoral thesis, defended in the USSR, on the topic of the Roma. Seventy years have passed since the day of this public defense, but the goals and objectives presented by the author for sure remain current even today. This is largely due to the fact that this thesis contains valuable information about the traditional culture of the Roma in Moldova. More than that, the field material introduced by the author into the scientific circulation, which was collected during a unique ethnographic expedition in the summer of 1947 in the villages of Capriana, Carlani, Lozovo, Dolna, Vulcaneshti etc., today has special value. An entire chapter of the thesis is dedicated to the Roma from Moldova, their traditional culture, traditional occupations, means of transport used by them traditional housing, the port, the kinship system, the problem of nomadism and other.
