Th e incidence of ovarian cysts detected during pregnancy varies considerably in the reports of diff erent researchers. Th e vast majority of these are functional cysts that usually spontaneously reabsorb until 14 weeks of gestation and that generates an illusory shadow over practitioners, underestimating a considerable percentage of aggressive formations. Th e use of imaging tools, tumor markers in combination with Adnexal Mass Risk Prediction Models logic tools for calculating the tumor aggressive potential is critical for risk stratifi cation, predicting prognosis and facilitating the choice of a rational management. In medical conduct adopted surgical management may be encouraged, expectative, or the administration of chimiopreparates depending on tumor size, growth rate, malignancy risk, gestational age and, last but not the least, patient consent. Th is study was focused on the analysis of epidemiology of ovarian cysts in pregnant women and possible imminent complications, modern and harmless diagnostic tools, with special emphasis on rational management opportunities. |
