The 1990s and the 2000s have seen a rise of the left-nationalist governments in the Latin America. This had a major impact on the position of the Latin American countries towards the neoliberal investment regimes as protected by the network of investment treaties. We could observe a gradual turn of Latin America away from the neoliberal concept of investment protection towards protection of national sovereignty. This article aims to provide an account of the reasons for this development and the way that this affects the current positions of Latin American countries toward investment protection and investment arbitration. In order to accomplish this goal, I will first summarize the causes of the turn of Latin America against the neoliberal investment regimes and then go on to show how is this turn reflected in the policies of the major Latin American countries.

Anii 1990 și 2000 au cunoscut o creștere a guvernelor naționaliste de stânga din America Latină. Acest lucru a avut un impact major asupra poziției țărilor din America Latină față de regimurile de investiții neoliberale protejate de rețeaua tratatelor de investiții. Am putea observa o întorsătură treptată a Americii Latine departe de conceptul neoliberal de protecție a investițiilor către protecția suveranității naționale. В 1990-х и 2000-х годах наблюдался рост левых националистических правительств в Латинской Америке.
