Analiza pertinentă a textului Noului Cod civil român, coroborată nu doar cu doctrina lui „Jus romanum antiqum” (Vechiul drept roman) şi cu normele legislaţiei bizantine (de stat şi canonică), ci şi cu legislaţia Bisericii Ortodoxe şi Romano- Catolice, ne-a dat posibilitatea să constatăm că instituţia Logodnei religioase, pe care legiuitorul român n-a recunoscut-o nici în textul Noului Cod civil, se bucură de o vechime apreciabilă, de unde şi obligativitatea acestuia de-a ţine seama de această veche instituţie.

The pertinent analysis of the New Romanian Civil Code, corroborated not only with the doctrine of Jus romanum antiqum (the old Roman law) and with the Byzantine (state and canonical) legislation, but also with the Church legislation (orthodox and roman-catholic), has given us the opportunity to notice that the religious Engagement institution (which the Romanian legislator did not recognize in the New Civil Code, despite its considerable age) also enjoyed a real legal status, hence his compulsoriness that – for the future – to take also in consideration this old institution
