In the article the problem of the title of musical work is discussed with reference to memorial compositions. Memorial character of such opuses can be embodied in two levels of the name: a level of the title (In memoriam , Hommage a ... , In honorem, etc.), and actually dedication (with the indication of a concrete persona’s name). The author mentions also special cases of compositions with the latent memorial plan. Some examples of dedications belonging to different historical epoch, to different musical cultures including works of composers of Republic Moldova are resulted in the article.
