Objective: Monitoring the features of the process of adaptation of late preterm infants (between 34 week gestation - 36 week and 6 days). Materials and methods: Were studied late preterm infants born, at a gestational age between 34 weeks and 36 weeks and 6 days, in Mother and Child Health Care Center in 2012. The total number of investigated children is 642: at 34 weeks gestation – 127 newborns, 35 weeks – 189 newborns, 36 weeks – 326 newborns. The rate of late preterm birth is 72% from the total number of prematures. 47,7% was newborns at 36 weeks gestation. 10,9% are children with IUGR (intrauterine growth retardation).The first place in the structure of preterm morbidity is the hyperbilirubinemia, more severe among newborn infants at 34 weeks. The second place is congenital pneumonia with prevalence among newborn infants at 35 weeks. The third place is the RDS most pronounced among newborn infants at 34 weeks. In order to provide health care to these newborns was elaborated the algorithm for observations, assessment and treatment of these children. |
