Rezumat

European Integration for the Republic of Moldova is, in its essence, a tendency towards normality, a desire to re-find its European vocation. One must be aware of the fact that it is a long lasting process, and the responsibility for its fulfillment relies on everyone: starting with policy-makers and think tanks and ending with usual citizens. The chose of the topic is not accidental, as a journal of educational practice and theory can not pass by this important issue, due to the fact that the integration process has direct implications with the educational system, which is being con-sidered as one of the basis pylons. In order to make a deeper analyses of the European inte-gration process, in the rubric QUO VADIS? we have initiated a straw vote, having as participants several stakeholders: sci-entists, politicians, managers, teachers, etc. All they have speci¬fied what does European Integration mean for the Republic of Moldova and have emphasized the contribution and impor-tance of the education in this process. Among the stakeholders, we have also included some high school students, in order to see their vision on the problem which directly affects them. In the column „ European Re-integration of the educational system from Moldova" Vlad Paslaru refers to the term „ Eu-ropean idea", to the premises for the European integration of the educational system (the new political realities, new edu¬cational philosophies, elaboration of a conceptual, normative and instrumental frameworks), as well as to the requirements which would favor the adjustment of our education system to the European standards. „A long journey to Europe" is an essay, by Gheorghe Rudic, in which he has done a radiography of the educational system, a brief but detailed description of the existent situa¬tion, and has shown the perspectives towards the European integration of the all educational levels, emphasizing the im¬portance of the life-long learning aspect. In this issue of our journal we have started three new ru-brics: EDUCATION FOR TOLERANCE, EDUCATION FOR DEMOCRACY and GENDER EDUCATION IN SCHOOL. In the EDUCATION FOR TOLERANCE rubric, Vsevolod Ciornei has referred to the tolerance as a necessity of the time, as a condition of the social wellbeing. Tolerance is considered as an important element of democracy, it is the ability to place oneself in someone's shoe and try to understand why does he/ she think this way or act this way, it is the ability which can be cultivated in the Young generation and not only. Also, in this rubric, Eudochia Brasoveanu and Irina Volcinschi militate for the school integration of the children with special educa¬tional needs, especially of those with hearing problems. In order to accomplish all the principles of the Education for everyone it is necessary to introduce changes in the teaching methodology, in the curriculum, in the relationship among the students, among the teachers and the students. The EDUCATION FOR DEMOCRACY rubric contains two columns. The first one is entitled „ Looking for democ¬racy" by Aurica Amarii. The author gives the floor for a de¬bate on the democracy as a phenomenon in a transition soci¬ety. Having as a start point the necessity for democratization of a school life, the institution which offers itself to educate the new generation in the spirit of democratic values and end¬ing with the idea of respecting these principles in the society. Viorica Gora§-Postica is the author of the second column „ The relationship between the school - and the community. Extrapolations of some advanced experiences". The author refers to a theme which is a new one for our context - educa¬tion for the community. The author's idea is that the commu¬nity education assures an efficient functioning of the school and cultural services for all members, increasing continuously the human resources of the community. Thus, the educational institutions would become real learning school-communities. The rubric GENDER EDUCATION IN SCHOOL hosts the column „Gender education - a vector of the social democ-ratization from gender's perspective", by Daniela Terzi. The column emphasizes the urgent necessity of promoting the gen¬der education principles in the school. „Teaching biography and the writer's activity (nonliterary text) - a way of getting the communication competences", by Iulia Iordachescu is included in the DOCENDO DISCIMUS rubric. This column refers to the problems in developing these competences/skills in the students who are speakers of a lan-guage as a second language. The author mentions the fact that teaching the writer's biography does not have as a goal only to inform the learners, but also involves other useful educa¬tional possibilities. The CRITICAL THINKING DEVELOPMENT rubric, supported by the International Reading Association (IRA), starts with a column on „Venn Diagram - at the crossing of Mathemat¬ics and Didactics", by Ludmila Ursu who proves us on the ad¬vantages of applying this technique by the teachers in their teach¬ing. Also, in this rubric, Valentina Tofan presents us a model of applying the Dual Entry Diary technique for exploring the crea¬tivity potential of the students. Her column is entitled „Teach-ing of the Values within the Literature Classes". In the DICTIONARY rubric, Sorin Cristea renders a full meaning of the role of the education in the European integra¬tion perspective. Beside the above, the readers will get acquainted with the latest publications ofthe PRO DIDACTICA Educational Center.
