Introduction. Recent studies reported that Mycoplasma pneumoniae play a signifi cant role as causes of communityacquired pneumonia in children of all ages. M.pneumoniae pneumonia has been reported in 10-40% of communityacquired pneumonia in children. Objective of our study was to determine clinical syndromes of mycoplasma respiratory infection in children. Matherial and methods. Diagnosis of micoplasma infection was based on high levels of specifi c antimicoplasmal antibodies determined by ELISA. The clinical syndromes were compared between children who tested positive for Mycoplasma infection and those whose results were negative. Results. The study included 287 children, aged 5 months - 7 years, with pneumonia. 141 children completed the study: 113 patients with M.pneumoniae infection and 28 children with M.hominis and 146 children without M.pneumoniae infection. The clinical picture has been represented mostly by cough, bronhoobstructive syndrome, and allergic dermatitis. Conclusion. The present study confi rms that mycoplasma infection plays important role in community – acquired pneumonia and suggesting the necessity of administration of therapeutic program for control of infectious infl ammatory process in Mycoplasmal respiratory diseases. |
