In the present article we have studied the notion and the types of existing electoral systems. Generally, we can define the country’s electoral system like the method used to calculate the number of elected positions in the representative bodies of state that individuals and parties are awarded after elections. There are many different types of electoral systems in use around the world, but they can be divided into three general types: majority electoral systems, proportional electoral systems and mixed electoral systems. Also, we have described the principles underlying these types of electoral systems, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type. |
