Rezumat

„Looking for a guard” by Vlad Ioviţă is an intertextual rewrite of the Ion Creangă’s story „Ivan Turbincă”. The novel is printed in the Nr. 1 magazine „Nistru” from 1966. In the struggle with the censorship, the writers resort to different strategies of the subversiveness. Between sixties stands Vlad Ioviţă who succeed in passing the censorship in an intertextual dialogue with Creangă. It is true that shortly, in April 1970, the film is prohibited. In the story of Creangă, Ivan Turbincă guards the heaven against the evil and sinners; in Ioviţă’s text, on the contrary, the world is „upside down” and is looking for a guard to stop the running away of the saints from the heaven (to read the communist heaven). For the political context of the totalitarian regime which launched the utopia that the world will live under communism in the ’80s, the God’s inability to make head of the worldly and heavenly affairs was a clear allusion to the society’s crises and its miseries, to the appearances and essences of an adrift world.
