The program for cultural exchange between the United States and others countries, initiated by William Fulbright, began to apply in the Romanian-American cultural relations since the 60’s. The control of information, their approach tendentious distortion and often misinformation, constituted the most powerful instrument for assessing the political and ideological monopoly of the communist regime in Romanian society. This paper aims to portray Romania the 80’s seen by American lecturers from the University «Al. I. Cuza». They are described grayness life and the police state interference in the work of lecturers. The conclusion of dally life of Romanians made it one of the lecturers Americans: «live in Romania is slavery, political and economic».
