Energy is the force behind industry, transport and heating. There is hardly an aspect of daily life that is not one way or another accompanied by the use of energy. Also, it’s a close relationship between the industrial structure and energy consumption determined by the fact that industry is the major energy consumer. At the beginning of the ’80 the prices of various final and intermediary products did not reflect the dynamics of cumulative energy consumption. Calculation proved that per unit cumulative energy consumption were often 10-20 times higher than direct ones, sometimes even 100 times higher. Therefore, the main problem was the
reduction of unit energy consumption. At the same time, the planned shift from petroleum-based fuels to lignite in the Romanian economy had an important environmental impact. The use of the socalled
bituminous shale in an electrical plant was a big failure, too, because of their low caloric value. Finally, with all these efforts, the energetic crisis in the Romania of the ‘80s could not be avoided. |
