This paper presents the results of the investigations carried out in 2013-2014 regarding the hydrochemical state of the Prut River within the boundaries of the Republic of Moldova. The spatial and temporal variation limits of the main hydrochemical characteristics (dissolved oxygen, CBO5, CCOMn, CCOCr, mineralization and main ions, biogenic elements – nitrogen, phosphorus and silicon) and
microelements (silicon and lithium) in the Costesti-Stinca reservoir and in the river sections Criva-Tetcani and Braniste-Giurgiulesti have been estimated. Although, in general, the waters of the Prut River meet the requirements for multifunctional aquatic ecosystems, in most cases, the self-cleaning capacity of the river (CBO5/CCOCr) does not compensate the direct discharge of untreated household and industrial waste waters into the river. |
