Dans la pièce Du Sexe de la femme comme champ de bataille dans la guerre en Bosnie, Matei Visniec, écrivain de notoriété européenne, faisant appel aux accessoires artistiques inédits, convertit la réalité immédiate dans un excellent discours dramatique. L’histoire du personnage féminin Dorra, inspirée des événements historiques de Bosnie, projette de façon généralisante la condition du monde de l’Europe de l’Est, traumatisé des horreurs. Annonçant de façon allusive son sentiment de solidarité avec le personnage-victime, le dramaturge condamne l’abus et la brutalité, en se résumant à l’évocation des réalités du périmètre de l’Europe de l’Est, situé depuis toujours sous le signe de grandes crises historiques, comme le note dans son journal, même au début de la pièce, le second personnage féminin, Kate, psychologue en Amérique : « dans les guerres interethniques, le sexe féminin devient un champ de bataille. Phénomène remarqué en Europe à la fin du XXe siècle. Le pénis du nouveau guerrier est baigné dans les cris des femmes violées, comme autrefois le poignard du chevalier était baigné dans le sang de son adversaire ». L’investigation par le dramaturge de l’intériorité du personnage équivaut, en essence, à la révélation des paysages de l’univers extérieur, qu’il vise à définir dans toute sa complexité, en lui évoquant des significations surprenantes.

In his work «On Female Sex as a Battlefield in the War of Bosnia» Matei Vişniec, a writer of Europian notoriety converts the immediate reality into an excellent dramatic discourse making use of a genuine artistic requisite. The story of the female personnage Dorra, inspired by the events in Bosnia, projects in a generalizing formula the condition of the East-European world traumatised by horrors. By allusively announcing his sentiment of solidarity with the victim-personnage the author condains the abuse, the brutality, resuming himselt to the evocation of the events in the East-European area that has always been under the mark of great historical crises, as mentioned in the debute of this work by the second feminine personnage Kate, a psychologist from America: «In the inter-ethnical wars the female sex becomes a battlefield. It is a phenomenon observed in Europe at the end of the XX th century. The penis of the new warrior is bathed in the screams of the raped women just like the knight’s spade was bathed in the blood of his adversary». The investigation made by the writer into the interiority of the personnage is equal in its essence to the revealing of the landscapes of the external universe which he intends to define in all their complexity evoking surprising significances.
