Abstract: Downy mildew is a devastating disease that could be prevented in sunflower by growing of resistant hybrids. Molecular screening methods for the presence of downy mildew resistance genes are a useful and efficient tool in breeding programs of this culture. In conducted research was screened the presence of downy mildew resistance genes Pl1, Pl6 and Pl5/Pl8 in germplasm of 42 sunflower genotypes. The presence of all three investigated genes was detected in only two Rf lines – MS-2540C, MS-1995C, which can be useful for various breeding programs in quality of the original resistance source.
