În prezentul articol, sunt analizate factorii determinanţi ai competitivităţii economice a ţărilor lumii. Se evidenţiază ideea că, în condiţiile globalizării, competitivitatea unei naţiuni este apreciată după numărul şi nivelul complexităţii companiilor transnaţionale originare din ţara respectivă. În acelaşi timp, este examinat rolul statelor în ce priveşte susţinerea competitivităţii firmelor. Autorul prezintă elementele componente ale sistemului naţional de inovare în corespundere cu definiţia OCDE, subliniind rolul de lider al clusterelor. În partea finală, este demonstrată existenţa clusterelor în economia Republicii Moldova, pornind de la produsele care ocupă un loc important în exportul ţării.

The paper makes an analysis of the factors determining the economic competitiveness of the world countries. It is maintained the idea that under globalization the competitiveness of a nation is measured both by the number and the sophistication level of the transnational companies originating from the respective country. Simultaneously, the nations role in supporting the firms competitiveness is examined. The author is presenting the component elements of a national system of innovation according to the OECD, highlighting the leading part of the clusters. Finally, the paper shows the existence of the clusters in the R. Moldova economy starting from the products with the largest shares in the country’s export.
