This study addresses the issue of childhood in stories about Guguta (from the volume Guguta and his friends by Spiridon Vangheli) from several perspectives: first, from the point of view of the village (a village is the most prolific environment for childhood, according to the Romanian philosopher Lucian Blaga), and then it is analyzed in terms of agespecific psychological features (that make Guguta a universal child). Faithful representation of the traditional village and childhood is the result of re-animation of the child in the writer’s conscience and spirit. Guguta, in this context, becomes a character is whom Spiridon Vangheli is fully found. |
