Tudose Roman’s poetry (1887-1921) is examined in its complexity, both thematically and applying aesthetic criteria. Its social meanings are also revealed and the role it played in the process of national re-awakening in Bessarabia in the first decades of the last century is highlighted. At the same time, the creation of the poet of the peasants is studied in the context of the generation of the Union from 1918, being compared with the poetic works of Alexie Mateevici, Ion Buzdugan and Pan Halippa. Investigation of T. Roman’s poetic work is made in correlation with his dramatic destiny, being brought into light new and relevant facts and biographic data.
