The article was dedicated to assessment of visual acuity. During the important years of infancy and early childhood we assess vision for development of different functions. After each assesment we should be able to report the quality of vision for orientation, for comunication, for activities of daily life, and for near vision tasks, not only the last one, as often happens. In our reports we should use positive expressions telling what the child has and not what he has lost or never had.Although we have keen interes in the visual development we should pay attention to development of all compensatory abilities as well. In severe visual impairment they will be more import in many situations than the the use of vision. |
