During the 5th Congress of Romanian Philologists (Iași-Chisinau, June 6-9, 1994), Eugeniu Coșeriu gave a general presentation of the typology of the neolatin languages, focusing on the place of the Romanian language and the current state of the Daco-Romanian dialect. The presentation contains a rigorous argumentation (in terms of genealogy, typology and area) of the thesis regarding the unity of the Daco-Romanian dialect. The linguist insists on the scientific frauds committed by the supporters of the theories that deny its unity, and their unsuccessful attempt to create a “Moldovan language” on the Eastern bank of river Prut, as a separate language compared to the Romanian language.
