Rezumat

In April 1943 the Russian scientists B.R. Lazarenko and N.I. Lazarenko, the married couple, has made remarkable discovery as to its importance for science and manufacturing engineering practice. Methods of dimensional machining as well as directional change of the current - conducting material surface properties, based on the absolutely new principles, were created. B.R. Lazarenko and N.I. Lazarenko offered to use an effect of electric erosion for removal of allowance from a blank or alloying the surface (a. c. 70010 and others (1943-1945); patents: France (1946), Great Britain (1946), USA (1946), Sweden (1946), Switzerland (1946). During 60 years of electrodischarge machining development, the two main types of machines which found wide and stable application in industry were designed: copying - broaching; cut out with tool – electrode, which permit machining all surface types used in machine building and instrumental production. The modern ED machines have automatic system of EDM process regulation and are characterized by high accuracy and range of machined surface forms. However the re-quirements for efficiency increase and accuracy are among the main conditions of subsequent progress as they were before. All progress of EDM development during the past 60 years confirmed B.R. Lazarenko's words that he said about EDM during defence of his doctor thesis in 1948 ... «there are no reasons which would stop development and progress of this revolutionary process, which turn upside-down the modern conception of machining materials. Future belongs to it...!»
