Introduction. Traumatic emergencies are a major public health problem. According to WHO data, traffic accidents, suicide, and homicide are the three dominant causes of death secondary to trauma and violence with a high rate of hospitalizations, deaths, disability, and socio-economic losses in the young and middle-aged population. Objective of the study. Evaluation of international and national experience in ensuring the quality of emergency medical care within the Emergency Medicine Department (EMD). Material and methods. In order to achieve the purpose and objectives of the research, various bibliographic sources were studied, the materials of scientific conferences and seminars, the specialized literature in the field, as well as the practical activity of the medical institutions that were the object of the research. Results. Global epidemiological trends in polytrauma shows an increase in the incidence of major trauma in the elderly from 21% in 1989-2003 to 33% in 2008-2013; during the same period there is a reduction in the injuries caused by traffic accidents; in children from 46% to 30%, in adults from 40% to 32% and in the elderly population from 19% to 9%. Conclusions. Ensuring high quality medical care within the EMD requires the transfer and implementation of evidence-based medical practices, creation, and implementation of a quality standards system of provided services. |
