The study of foreign policy, as well as the decision-making process in this area includes the study of the principles and laws which may explain the choice of conduct of such complex social organisms, as the Presidential Administration, Government, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Parliament. In addition, the purpose of this study is to identify opportunities for optimization, improvement of bureaucratic structures to find the most appropriate ways to achieve goals. Both aspects are the subject of the theory of decision decision-making process.
The theory of the decision-making process was at the confluence of several sciences: mathematics, mathematical economics, sociology, psychology, and, of course, political science. Rational choice theory plays an important role in the decision-making; it came in political science from the economy, although it is associated not only with the latter. Sheri Rolf names three intellectual traditions which exerted the greatest importance for the development of rational choice theory: a) the Scottish moral philosophy, expounded by Francis Hutcheson, David Hume, Adam Ferguson and Adam Smith, who proposed a specific concept of individualistic rational behavior b) utilitarianism, which expresses a comprehensive concept of moral judgments c) neoclassical theory, which has highlighted the exchange process.
The theory of rational choice, has located an individual on the forefront of political science; he is independent and active, with his personal interests and needs. The theory of rational choice was based on the premise that the connectivity of individual human behavior and social organizations in order to maintain the sovereignty of individual decisions both to personal and public properties. Thus, the theory of rational choice as a model of foreign policy analysis can be considered very traditional. Studying public policy scholars often try to find answers to specific problems that arise in terms of acting rationally subjects. |
