Correlation between the changes of water status parameters and antioxidant enzymes activity(catalase, ascorbat peroxidase, guaiacol peroxidase), caused by acute deficiency humidity in leaves of drought tolerant and susceptible plants was investigated. Results obtained showed that the resistance of plants distinctly depends, first of all, by ability to regulate of the tissue hydration, and after that, on the initial level of the antioxidant enzymes activity, and also on
ability of plants quickly increases their functioning. The damages caused by dehydration are a consequence not only direct effect on cellular membranes, but also evokes a deficiency in functioning of the antioxidant defence system, as well as in inhibition of catalase and in the fluctuation of the peroxidases activity: H2O2 formed at the desmutation of super-anion radical by SOD, not being decomposes out by the catalase, amplifies biodegradation of cellular structures.
Absence the accordance in the correlative responses of SOD and Cat activity in leaves of susceptible plants is caused by their low ability of regulation of the internal water status at drought. The correlation between the activities of detoxicant enzymes and endogenous water was established. |
