Rezumat

The research was based on the offi cial statistics of the National Center for Health Management for the years 19982011 on morbidity (incidence, prevalence), disability and mortality in adult population with liver cirrhosis of Moldova. Data were analyzed according to: type of residence: rural and urban per person − by sex, age, place of death, of time − years 1998-2011. During the reporting period the incidence rate increased 1.6 times, while the prevalence rate shows an increase of 1.6 times and amounted in 2011 to 370.3 cases per 100 000 adults compared with the year 1998 to 228.3 cases. Increasing incidence results in increased permanent incapacity to work caused by liver cirrhosis. During 19982011 there was an increasing trend, the increase was 1.6 times from 13.6 cases per 100 000 adults in 1998, up from 22.2 cases in 2011. Liver cirrhosis mortality rate increased 1.2 times, but particularly during the research annual oscillation is different. Rate of fatality for liver cirrhosis showed that of 100 patients with the liver cirrhosis in the 2011 year, practically every 4-rd patient dies.
